Seven Things Weeks 25-31

Seven weeks - oops. Apparently abdominal surgery and returning to work (perhaps too soon) are a bit taxing.  And then we went away for a few long weekends.  Two for pleasure, one for a funeral.

While we were away, I was able to acquire things, but not get rid of them.  This has shown very obviously in my numbers.

In the seven weeks since I last posted, I failed in four of them.  Op shops are a weakness.  Interstate op shops even more so.

That being said I still managed to average more than 26 items out per week, largely due to transforming some of my (not inconsiderable) fabric stash into things I can give away.

6/4/1970reusable makeup removing padsBuy Nothing Communitymade from reclaimed flannelette from the free bins at the Green Shed and some from virgin vintage flannelette from deep stash.  I make them when I have time and give them away on Buy Nothing as a contribution to the community and to the environment.  A great way of using up my stash, diverting cotton textiles from the wast stream and taking single use items out of the environment at the same time.  The threads I use are also from my Mum’s stash or purchased at op shops and the like.
6/4/1987family clothsgiftmade from reclaimed flannelette from the free bins at the Green Shed.  The world’s weirdest housewarming gift, but one the recipient was keen for.
6/4/191pair sunglasesBuy Nothing CommunityI’m levelling up to multifocals for everyday wear, so my old sunnies could go.  They were designer sunglasses that I loved but what’s the use in holding on?
6/4/191bread makerrecyclingWe got it from the Buy Nothing Community but it died after a few months of fairly constant use.  fortunately, the Buy Nothing Community was able to replace it for me, and kicked in with some bread mixes as well.  Richard is chuffed because it has a gluten free setting, so we both get home baked bread now.
6/4/191blenderrecyclingWe bought it about 5 years ago. The seal gave up the ghost a few years ago  and we were unable to get a replacement seal so Richard superglued the jug which made it difficult to clean but it still worked well.  But it died mid-mix and I splurged on a new one.
