Merry People x Bridge It
As part of World Homeless Day, we’re donating 15% of our Australian website and retail store sales across 10th - 17th October to Bridge It — a Melbourne charity that provides safe homes to young women and gender-diverse people facing homelessness.
This is our fourth year partnering with Bridge It. Every Merry People pair purchased this week does a little bit more, so let's keep building and give youth homelessness the boot together!

The Cocoon: So Much More Than A Roof
Founded by Carla Raynes, Bridge It's approach is led by empathy, lived experience, and the belief that everyone deserves a home where they feel safe and supported.
Over 122,000 people experience homelessness in Australia each night. Young women under 25 are particularly at risk, often fleeing unsafe situations with nowhere to go.
Bridge It's Cocoon residences in St Kilda are created to bridge this critical gap by providing young women up to 18 months of safe, supported housing, as well pathways to education and employment.

Furthering Our Partnership
Over the years, Merry People has raised and donated $90,000 to Bridge It — sponsoring their peer mentoring program, along with funding the construction of the first Cocoon’s outdoor courtyard and the second Cocoon's roof!
This year, with your help, we're looking to further our support! So whether you've been eyeing off a Merry People pair for yourself or as a gift, every purchase this week goes towards Bridge It's mission to end youth homelessness.

Curious to learn more? Join us on Wednesday, 28th October for a private screening of The Cocoon series, plus a panel discussion with Carla, Dani, and the Bridge It team.
The series documents what it takes to build their second Cocoon residence and the importance of providing a safe home for young women at risk of homelessness. It asks a simple, yet powerful question: what becomes possible when a young person finally feels safe?
