heart) - The Monster that Ate Canberra by Michael Salmon (the first time I saw my home town reflected in literature and I know, now, that it was allegorical)
- Canberra Tales by Margaret Barbalet et al (the first time I saw the non-National Capital aspects of my home town reflected in literature)
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
- The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy by Lawrence Sterne
- Little Women by Louisa May Allcott (if you didn't want to be Jo you can't be my friend)
- The Bible (great stories, culturally significant and the King James Version is a beautiful version of the English language)
(Er, does the dog count? No? Ok, I'll do the list that makes sexy for me)
- Caring
- Principled
- Smart
- Funny
- Politically aware
- Knows that chocolate is an essential food group and when to administer it
- Loves animals

and knowing when to administer chocolate is vital. Sherpa boy is known for slipping jelly-beans in my knitting-bag; a sister skill.
I always wanted to be Jo too :) And not marry an ancient German professor. I;ve also read P+P 13 times - and all long before the craze for it (as I am assuming to have too). And Even Tristram Shandy, you are the only other person I know who has read it! BTW the book arrived a couple of weeks ago, I meant to email you but I think it got lost in the welter of school work, end of semester panicking and general family crises that have been going on Chez Sheeprustler recently. Thank you!!!
I love "The Monster That Ate Canberra"! One of my favourite books as a kid, but I have never seen it outside my own book collection!
