It is well established that I adore Rambo, the Big Merino at Goulburn (about an hour's drive from here). I even drag unsuspecting visitors miles out of our way to see him; but she's from the home of the Big Dirty Hoe and quite likes the kitschy big stuff, so it was ok.

Now he's on a stamp and I couldn't be prouder. Thanks, Australia Post.

I remember Rambo!
When I was in Year 11 (many, many moons ago), I went on a school excursion to Thredbo. I fell asleep in the bus and woke up in the carpark behind The Big Merino, staring straight at the back end of the Big Guy himself (for those who've never seen him, lets just say that Rambo is Anatomically Correct). I got the fright of my life!
I believe that in the intervening years, they have extended the gift shop in such a way that his, er... crowning glories are no longer on display. I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

Didya know didya didya that my dad made the big merino? It was before he got famous. He's still very proud of the *ahem* anatomically correct parts. Mum bought masses of those stamps to use for business correspondence. Heh.

I have not laughed that hard in a while. It took a while to recover.

We also have :
a giant nickel (5 cent piece)
Squirt the 13 ft high Skunk
a giant Perogie complete with Fork
the Mammoth Cheese
a 31ft high Pysanka (easter egg)
a 24 ft high coffee pot
a UFO landing pad

This is just a small portion of what Canadians have spent their money to build. We need to get out more.

That is amazing! It's a giant cement sheep. It must be heavy! Rambo is such a good name. It suits the cement-ness.
